¡Hola, mis amores! Hoy celebramos el Día Internacional de la Tierra. No es una cuestión de moda o una tendencia, la industria está evolucionando y volverse sostenible con el objetivo de cuidar el planeta y promover la responsabilidad social. Afortunadamente estas marcas a nivel mundial están fabricando ropa con materiales reciclados y dándole un respiro a la Tierra.

Si hablamos de moda eco friendly, el nombre de esta diseñadora es de los primeros que escuchamos, pues desde que fundó su marca en 2001, McCartney ha presentado alternativas hechas con materiales como algodón orgánico, lana de origen ético y textiles reciclados, entre otros. Además de su ropa, también colabora con diferentes organizaciones como Wildlife Works y Parley for the Oceans. También tiene una línea con Adidas hecha con accesorios de plástico, redes de pesca y otros materiales que encuentra en los océanos.

En 2005 nació esta marca francesa cuyos dueños son Sébastien Kopp y François-Ghislain Morillion. La misión de Veja es crear tenis con los materiales más ecológicos y que los proveedores sean éticos. Esto lo encontraron en Brasil. De hecho, su nombre es un guiño al portugués. Veja significa “mirar”.  A pesar de que hay materiales sintéticos más económicos, los diseñadores compraron caucho silvestre del Amazonas, una forma de lucha contra la deforestación. Además de este material, usan algodón ecológico, pero lo más innovador de Veja es la malla de botella, la cual resiste el agua. Según sus cálculos, se necesitan tres botellas de plástico recicladas para hacer un par de zapatos.

Esta empresa americana-inglesa fundada por Marcus Wainwright y Nathan Bogle en 2002, trata de redefinir el estilo urbano, sin olvidar la sostenibilidad y la producción local. En 2007, se asociaron con Blue Jeans Go Green de Cotton Incorporated, y lanzaron el programa de reciclaje de mezclilla.  Cada que un cliente les deja una pieza, les dan un 20% de descuento para que compren otro par.

Este material se encuentra en todas sus chamarras, pantalones y camisetas. En 1996, implementaron el algodón 100% orgánico. Por si fuera poco, el 1% de sus ganancias van a pequeñas asociaciones que luchan por conservar las condiciones del suelo, el agua y aire.
