Las razones para ir a la montaña (y el outfit que necesitarás)

Feliz viernes, mis amores. Hoy les escribo para platicarles que estos dos días estuve fuera en una aventura con WYSE, que es un movimiento de crecimiento y autoconocimiento, que busca dar las herramientas para facilitar el crecimiento personal a través de la aventura en la naturaleza. A estas salidas las llaman Expeditions for the Soul y ahora compruebo por qué son parte de su filosofía. Salir a la naturaleza tiene un poder de transformación, que te lleva a observar la vida desde diferentes perspectivas que aclaran el camino de tu propósito personal.

Happy Friday, my loves. Today I’m writing to tell you that these past two days I was out on an adventure with WYSE, which is a movement of growth and self-knowledge, which seeks to give the tools to grow through adventure in nature. They call these trips Expeditions for the Soul and now I know why they are part of their philosophy. Going out into nature has a transformative power, which leads you to view life in a different perspective.

Aunque ya había salido antes a entornos naturales, esta fue mi primera vez en un hike en el Pico de Orizaba y me gustó tanto que en noviembre ya me puse como meta personal, llegar a la cumbre. Aunque ir a la montaña se ha convertido en una tendencia necesaria para encontrar el balance, tengo que confesar que saber qué empacar para vivir al máximo esta experiencia, sí fue un reto. La aventura empezó desde descubrir qué zapatos usar hasta prevenir todo lo que se necesita para disfrutar y gozar el día rodeado de naturaleza. Tomando las recomendaciones de los que llevan años acampando y haciendo senderismo, les hice una lista de todo lo que debes preguntar antes para que la experiencia sea la mejor en todo aspecto.

Although I had already gone to natural environments before, this was my first time on a hike in the Pico de Orizaba and I liked it so much that in November I already set myself a personal goal, to reach the summit. Although going to the mountains has become a necessary trend to find balance, I have to confess that knowing what to pack to live this experience to the fullest was a challenge. The adventure started from discovering what shoes to wear to preventing everything that is needed to enjoy the day surrounded by nature. Taking the recommendations of those who have been camping and hiking for years, I made a list of everything you should ask before going out.

¿Qué tipo de sendero practicarás?

¿Caminarás por terrenos rocosos o con lodo? ¿Tienes límite de tiempo? ¿Bajarás o subirás una montaña?Una vez que contestes estas preguntas podrás determinar cuál es la ropa que debes usar. Si vas a cruzar arroyos o caminar por lodo, entonces debes usar zapatos que sean impermeables o al menos resistentes al agua y fáciles de limpiar. Pero eso no es lo único que debes considerar, también debes buscar unos que tengan buena pisada y sean antiderrapantes. Pon mucha atención a los pantalones, pues se pueden mojar y ensuciar. Si estás planeando ir a un sendero sin pavimentar, necesitas usar unos que tengan buen soporte en los tobillos. Llevar varias capas de ropa que puedas quitarte y poner es ideal para este tipo de actividades.

What type of trail will you practice?

Will you walk on a rocky or muddy path? Do you have a time limit? Will you go up or down? Once you answer these questions you will be able to know what clothes you should wear. If you are going to cross streams or walk through mud, then you should wear shoes that are waterproof or at least water resistant and easy to clean. But that's not the only thing you should consider, you should also look for ones that have a good footprint and are non-slip. Pay close attention to pants, as they can get wet and dirty. If you're planning on going on an unpaved trail, you need to wear ones that have good ankle support. Carrying several layers of clothing that you can take off and put on is ideal for these types of activities.

¿Cómo estará el clima?

Planifica. Revisa en Google cómo estará la temperatura el día que irás a caminar. Con base en esto, podrás planificar tu look. La lluvia y la nieve requieren capas cálidas, ropa abrigadora, pero también impermeable; botas con gran pisada y una gorra. Para climas cálidos, unas capas ligeras son perfectas.

How will the weather be like?

Make a plan. Check on Google how the temperature will be the day you go for a walk. Based on this, you can plan your look. Rain and snow require warm layers, warm clothing, and also waterproof boots with great tread and a cap. For hot climates, light layers are perfect.

¿Qué debes llevar en la mochila?

No es lo mismo una caminata de una hora a una de ocho horas o más. Para caminos cortos, evita cargar muchas cosas. Bastará una mochila con un poco de gel antibacterial, toallitas húmedas, una botella de agua, un lunch y bloqueador. Pero si esta aventura se convertirá en horas prolongadas y hasta días, entonces a esta lista súmale papel de baño, protector contra insectos, repelente, sleeping bag y otras cosas que puedas llegar a necesitar.

What should you carry in your backpack?

It is not the same to be on a walk of an hour to one of eight hours or more. For short trails, avoid carrying a lot of things. A backpack with a little antibacterial gel, wet wipes, a bottle of water, a lunch and sunscreen will suffice. But if this adventure will turn into long hours or even days, then to this list add toilet paper, insect protector, repellent, sleeping bag and other things that you may need.

¿Es bueno vestirte en capas?

Sí. Empieza con una capa base. Para climas cálidos será una camiseta sin mangas o de manga corta de algodón. Si no tienes, opta por una camiseta deportiva como las Nike que son dry fit. Si harás una caminata en clima frío, querrás algo más ajustado en la parte superior para guardar el calor. Una camiseta de manga larga o un cuello alto de seda o lana te ayudará. Existen marcas como The North Face que tienen este tipo de indumentaria. Pasemos a la segunda capa que consiste en un rompevientos o una polar ligera. Esa que usas para el gym, ¡está perfecta! Si no te gustan este tipo de chamarras, entonces opta por un chaleco, pero que no sea muy estorboso o puffy. Estas capas no serán suficientes si vas a montañas con bajas temperaturas. Aquí los expertos recomiendan que uses una media cremallera o una sudadera polar de cuello alto para evitar las filtraciones de aire frío. Si está lloviendo, puedes usar una rompevientos o una chamarra resistente al agua.

Is it good to dress in layers?

Yes. Start with a base coat. For hot climates this will be a cotton tank top or short sleeve. If you don't have one, opt for a sports shirt like a Nike that is dry fit. If you're hiking in cold weather, you'll want something tighter on top to keep the warmth. A long-sleeved shirt or turtleneck made of silk or wool will help. There are brands like The North Face that have this type of clothing. Let's move on to the second layer which consists of a windbreaker or a light fleece. The one you use to go to the gym, it's perfect! If you don't like this type of jacket, then opt for a vest, but one that is not too obtrusive or puffy. These layers will not be enough if you go to mountains with low temperatures. Here, experts recommend that you wear a half zip or a high-neck fleece to prevent cold air leaks. If it's raining, you can wear a windbreaker or waterproof jacket.

¿Cómo deben ser los zapatos?

Regla básica: tienen que ser cómodos, con buen soporte y sean apropiados para el senderismo. Yo compré unos tenis de trekking. Puedes usar zapatos o bota de montaña, incluso unos tenis deportivos si solo vas a caminar.De nuevo, toma en cuenta el terreno, el clima y la duración de la caminata para elegir tu calzado.

Basic rule: they have to be comfortable, well supported and suitable for hiking. I bought some trekking tennis shoes. You can wear hiking shoes or boots, even sneakers if you're just hiking - again, take the terrain, weather, and length of your hike into account when choosing your footwear.

Chanel Cruise 2022: Simplicidad, rock y punk

¡Hola, mis amores! Estoy enamorada de la nueva colección de Chanel. Me encanta cómo Virginie Viard se ha atrevido a exporar nuevos caminos estéticos y ha presentado increíbles propuestas de de prêt-à-porter. Para la colección Chanel Cruise 2022, la directora creativa de la maison se inspiró en la amistad que Coco Chanel tuvo con Jean Cocteau –poeta, novelista, dramaturgo, pintor, diseñador, crítico y cineasta francés–.

Hi my loves! I’m in love with the new Chanel collection. I really like how Virginie Viard has dared to explore new aesthetic paths and has presented incredible ready-to-wear proposals. For the Chanel Cruise 2022 collection, the maison's creative direction was inspired by the friendship that Coco Chanel had with Jean Cocteau - French poet, novelist, play writer, painter, designer, critic and film maker.

Fue la fortificación en Les Baux-de-Provence, el lugar ideal para presentar varios looks casi todos en blanco y el negro, con toques en rosa, lila o azul celeste. Creo que de lo que más me gusta de Chanel es que siempre busca la simplicidad, misma que coincide con la obra de Cocteau.

The fortification at Les Baux-de-Provence was the ideal place to show various looks almost all in black and white, with touches of pink, lilac and azure blue. I think what I like the most about Chanel is that they always looks for simplicity, which coincides with Cocteau's work.

“La sencillez, la precisión y la poesía de la película de Cocteau ‘El testamento de Orfeo’, me hicieron querer crear una colección muy limpia, con un bicolor muy distinto, compuesto de blanco brillante y negro profundo”, declaró Viard.

"The simplicity, precision and poetry of Cocteau's film 'The Testament of Orpheus' made me want to create a very clean collection, with a very different two-color, composed of bright white and deep black," said Viard.

Entre mis prendas favoritas están la clásica chamarra de Chanel, un vestido sastre de manga larga y un vestido camisero amplio, además de uno corto con escote off the shoulders.

Among my favorite proposals are the classic Chanel jacket, a long-sleeved tailored dress and a wide shirt dress, as well as a short one with an off-the-shoulder neckline.

Me sorprendieron los toques rockeros vistos en capas, medias de rejilla, gargantillas o bralettes. Me fascinaron los flecos, el cuero y las lentejuelas que hacen homenaje a los años setenta e influencia punk. ¿Otro constante en la colección? Los botines de tacón blanco.

I was surprised by the rock n' roll touches seen in layers, fishnet stockings, chokers and bralettes. I loved the fringes, leather and sequins that paid homage to the seventies and punk influence. Another constant in the collection? The white high heel ankle boots.

Me llamó muchísimo la atención ver estampados de leones y esfinges femeninas, encontrados también en su departamento en Rue Cambon, recientemente restaurado y que ha servido a Inez & Vinoodh para fotografiar algunos estilismos.

It caught my attention to see prints of lions and female sphinxes, also found in her apartment on Rue Cambon, recently restored and which has been used by Inez & Vinoodh to photograph some outfits.
